Humanities and Sciences Face-to-Face Summit Forum and the Unveiling Ceremony of the IJCAI-SAIA China Joint Office
As emerging technologies such as large language models (LLM), artificial intelligence generated content (AIGC) and general artificial intelligence (AGI) emerge in various fields of society, they have gradually become hot topics of concern, and the dialogue between science and humanities has become increasingly important. To this end, the "2023 IJCAI-WAIC Big Models and Technology Singularity: Face-to-face Summit Forum on Humanities and Sciences and the Unveiling Ceremony of the IJCAI-SAIA China Joint Office" was held on July 7, 2023. The event was hosted by the IJCAI-SAIA China Joint Office and East China Normal University, and organized by the School of Politics and International Relations of East China Normal University.
As a grand event in the field of artificial intelligence, this event invited top artificial intelligence experts from around the world, as well as leading figures in the humanities from well-known domestic and foreign universities and research institutions, to discuss two major topics: "Opportunities and Challenges of Generative Artificial Intelligence" ; "Will the development of AI in the next decade have a singularity-like impact on human civilization? And how to deal with it? "
This forum breaks through the traditional discussion mode and innovates the practice of 2v2 format. Two AI experts and two liberal arts experts will have a dialogue around the theme of the forum. At the same time, the forum has an open mic session so that the audience can also participate in the exchange of ideas on the spot. Through the innovation of the form, we strive to integrate the ideas of science and liberal arts, humanities and social sciences with technological development, bring opportunities for in-depth Q&A exchanges to the artificial intelligence community and the humanities and social sciences community, help the humanities and social sciences community answer questions about technology, calibrate expectations for future technological development, and at the same time enable the technological advancement in the future field of artificial intelligence to be coordinated by humanities and social sciences, and jointly build a credible, bounded, private, moral, and orderly future of human-machine symbiosis.
The forum was co-hosted by Professor Zhang Chengqi, Vice President of the University of Technology Sydney, Dr. Shao Yilei, Secretary General of the IJCAI-SAIA China Joint Office, and Professor Wu Guanjun, Dean of the School of Political Science and International Relations of East China Normal University. They will have in-depth exchanges with experts in the field of artificial intelligence, such as Professor Yang Qiang, a member of the Royal Society and the Academy of Engineering of Canada, Toby Walsh, a member of the Australian Academy of Science, Professor Tang Jie of Tsinghua University, and leaders in the humanities, such as Yuan Zhenguo, Honorary Dean of the Shanghai Institute of Intelligent Education of East China Normal University, Cheng Sumei, Deputy Director of the Institute of Philosophy of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, and Xu Jilin, Zijiang Distinguished Professor of East China Normal University. Representatives from the AI industry will also participate in the discussion.
The technical support for this event will be provided by generative AI technology, including multilingual simultaneous interpretation by GPT-4 and Voice-to-text, and all promotional posters and PPT production by Midjourney. GPT-4 will also complete the meeting summary, truly reflecting the widespread application of artificial intelligence in actual work, while adding exclusive interviews with human media to reflect the harmonious cooperation between man and machine.
The event is scheduled to be held at Zhangjiang Science Hall from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm on July 7, 2023. Audiences can scan the QR code to sign up for the forum. We look forward to sharing this feast of ideas with you.
